Bjørn Woodworks was born in a workshop, not a boardroom.

Our team of craftsmen all share one unique passion — building inspiring living spaces for our friends and family to unwind in. And when we deciced to put up a pergola, it seemed like an easy enough idea, until we started looking for hardware that was actually worth using.

Everything we found was either flimsy, ugly, or so rigid it forced us to build around the product instead of around our vision. So we scrapped the store-bought route and started sketching our own brackets — ones that would work like building blocks. Slide the lumber in, lock it down, done. Clean joints, real strength, no butchering the wood to make it fit.

We fabricated the first set in a shop in Utah. Put it up. Stepped back. And immediately knew we were onto something.

Since then we’ve shipped thousands of kits, watched customers build pergolas, gazebos, saunas, pool houses, and outdoor kitchens — and we still get the same feeling every time someone sends us a photo of their finished build.

We don’t design by committee or outsource our engineering to cut costs. Every bracket in the Bjørn lineup was designed in-house, by people who actually use them — and every decision we make has a specific “why” behind it.

Why open-top brackets? So you can drop lumber in without a second set of hands. Why same-plane angles? So your rafters sit flush and your build looks intentional. Why 12-gauge steel? Because 14-gauge is what everyone else uses, and we’ve never been interested in doing what everyone else does.
